Good morning everyone. Here comes the foliage season again : ) Kyoto is crowded these days. But with a little planning and effort you can have entire temples and gardens to yourself. Here’s the list of popular spots and how to escape the crowds in Kyoto.
⍟ Kiyomizu-dera Temple
⍟ Fushimi-Inari-Taisha Shrine ⍟ Nishiki Market ⍟ Ginkaku-ji Temple ⍟ Kinkaku-ji Temple ⍟ Ryoan-ji Temple rock garden ⍟ Tofuku-ji Temple during foliage season ⍟ Eikan-do Temple during foliage season ⍟ Nijo-jo Castle
When to go: Golden Week (early May) and foliage season (November) are crowded so you might want to visit popular spots on weekdays, or just after opening or just before closing. As to the natural places such as Arashiyama: Bamboo forest, old preservation area streets or geisha district. Visit there in early morning, you will see more great view, and less tourists heads in front of your camera : ) Also, in foliage season, you can find many famous spots with special opening at night. Try the night tour, some of them could be really amazing! How to go: Avoid taking bus during rush hour, morning and afternoon. Local people use bus to work and school, and it's also takes more time waiting for and on the bus cruising, if you have subway or tram options, don't take the bus just for saving money, trust me, the time and comfort you gonna lost is way much more than that. Arranging your tour by spend little time googling open/close time, reviews and map beforehand, figure out the priority on your list. Then you'll have a great day exploring Kyoto. Last, if you have any question, don't hesitate to ask. We'll be happy to join your planning time : ) Receptionist Illas
